Microsoft ประกาศเปิดตัว .NET Core 1.1 RTM สำหรับใช้งานได้บน Visual Studio 2015, Visual Studio 2017 RC, Visual Studio Code และ Visual Studio for Mac แล้ว โดยมีสสิ่งใหม่ๆ ที่เพิ่มเข้ามาดังนี้
- .NET Core เพิ่ม Distro และปรับปรุงประสิทธิภาพการทำงาน
- ASP.NET Core ปรับปรุง Kestrel และรองรับการทำงานได้บน Azure
- EF Core รองรับ Azure และ SQL 2016
- เพิ่ม API ใหหม่ 1,380 รายการ https://github.com/dotnet/core/blob/master/release-notes/1.1/1.0-1.1-api-diff/1.0-1.1-api-diff.md
- เพิ่มฟีเจอร์ใหม่ๆ หลาย 10 อย่าง และแก้บั๊กไปนับร้อย
- รองรับการทำงานบน Linux Mint 18, OpenSUSE 42.1, macOS 10.12 และ Windows Server 2016
นอกจากนี้ TechEmpower ยังได้ทำการทดสอบ ASP.NET Core 1.1 พร้อม Kestrel และพบว่าเปป็น Maintream Fullstack Web Framework ที่เร็วที่สุดจากการทดสอบ Plaintext Benchmark อีกด้วย
