Red Hat ได้ออกมาประกาศว่า Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1 นั้นผ่านการรับรองความปลอดภัยตามมาตรฐาน Common Criteria Certification ที่ระดับ Evaluation Assurance Level (EAL) 4+ อย่างเป็นทางการแล้ว และนับเป็นครั้งแรกของโลกที่ระบบปฏิบัติการได้ผ่าน Common Criteria แบบ Linux Container Framework Support ด้วย
การผ่านมาตรฐานในครั้งนี้นั้นหมายความว่าระบบปฏิบัติการ Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1 มีความปลอดภัยตามการทดสอบที่ระดับ EAL4+ และองค์กรที่ต้องการความปลอดภัยในระดับสูงอย่างหน่วยงานรัฐ, สถาบันการเงิน และอื่นๆ นั้นสามารถนำไปใช้งานได้อย่างมั่นใจ โดยการผ่าน Linux Container Framework Support นี้ก็หมายถึงสามารถนำไปใช้ให้บริการ Container ได้อย่างปลอดภัยได้ด้วยเช่นกัน โดยนอกจาก Linux Container Framework Support แล้ว Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1 ก็ยังผ่านการทดสอบตามมาตรฐานดังต่อไปนี้ด้วย
- Advanced Management (MLS mode only)
- Labeled Security (MLS mode only)
- Runtime protection against programming errors, encompassing address space layout randomization (ASLR), stack smashing protector strong and others
- Packet Filter
