Wireshark ประกาศเปิดตัวรุ่น 2.4.0 ในฐานะรุ่น Stable ล่าสุด พร้อมฟีเจอร์ใหม่ๆ และโปรโตคอลใหม่ๆ ที่สามารถทำการวิเคราะห์ได้เพิ่มเติม ดังนี้
- มี 32-bit และ 64-bit Windows Installer แบบ .msi แยกจากกัน และแนะนำว่าไม่ควรติดตั้งซ้ำซ้อนกับระบบเดิมที่ใช้ NSIS (.exe)
- GTK+ UI ซึ่งเป็นแบบเก่าถูกสั่งปิดไว้โดย Default บังคับให้ใช้ UI ใหม่แทน
- รองรับการ Resolve Name ของ SS7 Point Code แล้ว
- เปิด Wireshark แบบ Fullscreen ได้แล้ว
- รองรับ G.722 และ G.726 ใน RTP Player
- เลือก Output Device เวลาเปิดเล่น RTP Stream ได้
- การถอดรหัสใน IEEE 802.15.4 เปลี่ยนมาใช้ UAT แทน
- รองรับการถอดรหัส TLS 1.3 (draft 21) ได้แล้ว
- TCP Analysis สามารถตรวจจับและ Flag เหตุการณ์ Retransmission แบบปลอมๆ ที่เกิดขึ้นได้
